Takatora is an ass, but its on purpose. This story unravels his privileged upbringing and forces him to face the realities of the patriarchy that advantaged him previously. He is unlearning his mindset of seeing omegas as “livestock” by becoming an omega himself. The patriarchy here mirrors irl patriarchy almost 1 to 1, its obvious what Asada Nemui is playing with here and its very interesting. Because of the transfer from Alpha to Omega, this story mirrors trans experiences quite a bit.

Asada Nemui writes about a lot of fucked up things, but they arnt necessarily romanticized. Its obvious the characters arnt good people, she likes to write about the ugly parts of people. I think its interesting and i dont mind problematic themes when they’re portrayed like this. The fact that most of the sex she depicts isnt heavily explicit shows that its more a portrayal and curiosity with the immoral and twisted rather than something thats supposed to be sexy and jacked off to.

Sleeping dead is my favorite yaoi. I love Mamiya with all my heart and i really appreciate how unconventional her portrayal and mamiya and sadas sex lives is. She is good at portraying queer themes without stating or labeling them clearly, i think mamiyas perspective of sex and his trauma leads him to behave like an asexual person would. Its a very nice portrayal. I also like that mamiya isn’t conventionally attractive and hes kind of an ass. I love the gore and tragedy themes as well.

Of course he would be an ass, he grew up privileged. The whole point of this story is to unravel his privileged upbringing and watch him learn the truth of patriarchy, and see how it changes him. Theres a reason that the system here mirrors irl patriarchy so much. The author wanted to explore someone of privilege losing their privilege. Personally takatora is my favorite character in this story. Although not explicitly, this story also mirrors a lot of transgender experiences, both of trans women and trans men. Its a very interesting read, but you have to look at it with literacy.
