LMFAOOO this might be the biggest red flag ive ever seen. Like he called her boring and nearly ditched her but then 10 pages later he says “he's always having fun with her”. THIS ISNT EVEN A MISUNDERSTANDING HE LITERALLY DID SOME NARCISSISTIC SHIT???!!! I’m so confused as to why the author thought this kind of progression was positive. Like this is a shoujo manga so obviously everything is cute in the end but ANY guy who exhibits this behaviour in real life is NOT WORTHWHILE people!!!! Stay safe

the manga is too focused on being a romance to even consider developing the themes which are supposed to make it interesting aka alternative culture, bands, music. Instead we have a boring ass girl who makes boring ass graphic designs who magically wins over the hearts of badly written bad boys just because she's earnest. It's not like I don't find this manga cute, but I wonder if the shoujo authors are aware that their storylines are often poor. I think it might be to due to publishers and editors more than authors themselves...

Ew

Worst basketball advice ive ever heard of…you’re a girl so you should shoot with both hands…??????ts pmo

passerby asked a question

What are some good older shoujos or just shoujos in general that have GOOD male characters. Like NOT too heavy on the bullshit.

I love the art and Rei's character design. The manga covers are phenomenal and Kira's artworks (which are very obviously inspired by Klimt) add a lot of depth to the manga. However, when I found out through the comment section that Rei's behaviour as a boyfriend was subpar, I checked out the final chapters. I read up to chapter 10, and felt the urge to drop it because it was very obvious that there would be an ex-lover or love triangle situation developing. I honestly don't understand why shoujo authors use and abuse this plot device. While it is true that in real life relationships the question of exes often pop up, it's kind of ridiculous how EVERY shoujo manga deals with it in nearly the same way. Anyways, rant over. I read the last chapters and was genuinely surprised to see how little the characters progressed? Kira and Rei seem dull as hell in the last chapters, even the way their eyes are drawn make them seem flat. I think this manga probably lost it's sense of direction. And although I find their story to be cute, it's weird that the rest of the 30 or so chapters are comprised of adding new murderous and morally bankrupt characters. Hurdles in romantic relationships are important to discuss, but how about we have a more developed storyline...
