I also read the raws and there is so much rape, so much horrible sexual violence, and the ending does NOT make up for any of it. Do they end up together? Yes. But not only does the top rape his “love” repeatedly, but the bottom is raped over and over and over by fucking disgusting old men, the top is forced to participate, their “friend” betrays them because he’s a homophobic piece of shit, and there isn’t any healing, reconciling of the trauma, just a sudden end. And the main bad guy doesn’t even die, and the enabler gets paid. I hate this. I hate the author. Sick, twisted bastard. I hate myself for reading it. I literally feel sick. I really recommend you don’t read this if you are in any way upset by SA.

So Helena tells Alicia to leave just before the wedding, which she does. While sneaking out, she runs into Chase, and he decides to follow her (even tho she previously rejected his confession - he’s totally devoted, second male lead-coded!) and helps her escape. On the day of the wedding there’s an explosion at the temple, with Helena apparently dead. Her icky father had planned to frame Karl (dumb fucking ML) for the murder, but he (fortunately??) survives. Karl lies and says that Alicia died, and Helena is alive. The crown prince vows to find out who actually set off the bomb. Meanwhile, Alicia and Chase have cute incognito moments while traveling, but they are eventually caught. Karl goes to see Alicia and being an absolutely awful motherfucker, he doesn’t tell her the truth about their past or his feelings. Nothing. Instead, he says that in order to take down house Vikros, she has to continue to pretend to be Helena, even tho he knows it will hurt her. Poor Alicia is distraught, but he just fucking leaves her there. He slumps down on the other side of the door, and says to himself, “This is the only way I can help you. I will protect you at all costs. Don’t leave me.”
