>>lady margrave was a decoy. max probably hired her to throw jean off his tracks and ensure that the revolution still happens. if jean found out that max is actually little pearl, then he wouldnât carry out the actual plan for the revolution (which is killing max in the process too). this was seen in chapters 45-46, where jean told max to get on the carriage in hopes to save him from getting killed. max needs to be killed so that jean and his rebellion can bring in a new world. why did max set himself up like that? because in chapter 49, it is implied that the system of the monarchy was already dying and a new set of power (which is democracy) needs to rise to reach âEqualityâ. <<
