I really really loved this and I appreciate the complexity of the uke and relationship a lot. I wonder if it’s a cultural thing that’s maybe lost in translation, the moving away and leaving things unresolved, the talk about selfishness. I thought it was really interesting. Particularly in the last episode where the MC has a conversation with the part timer, telling him to go grab his happiness followed by the MC saying he didn’t notice ML’s selfishness. I choose to interpret it as him realizing that ML wasn’t letting go because he loved him (which he knows but sometimes you need that kick to realize it.)
The ML is very human here and selfish in more ways than one. Him being unsure of his attraction and him not telling MC about the move were not great things to do.
I found this so terribly romantic at parts, in a way other works never really do. The way MC held ML’s face the first night together, the way they talked to each other, the way they looked at each other. So very very beautiful. This is really particularly because of mundanity of the romance and its flaws.
I LOVE perfume and I wanted to love this so much but the SA is such a no. But I will say the scent profile that’s popular in Japan is really interesting. Generally more subdued, clean scents are popular there. I think it’s to do with the culture of unobtrusiveness. Always wanted to try Japanese niche brands. But anyway, this BL is just okay.
