I’m confused on why the prince suddenly started calling him yu er? Isn’t that just a random name? Or is it some kind of form of endearment? (=・ω・=)

    The uke's name is Shen Yu(though it was basically the magistrate's daughter's name)..so in chinese if you use their last name with 'er' it represents your affection or love towards them..so comes Yu-er...hope this explanation helps. (●'◡'●)ﾉ
