Because of the way yaoi manga is often written Ik jerk mugo is going to be framed as the best choice or the good guy despite his nasty attitude, abusive behavior and bad character. And Ik Sir Mugo who is obviously the kindest is going to be framed as being suspicious and not to be trusted. Further pushing this narrative that mean, traumatized, unhealed men are actually better then men who don’t abuse you. Idk why this is so ingrained in yaoi culture, it’s an aspect I really really detest. But alas… not enough for me to stop tuning in lol. Anyway, Ik he’s gonna be written poorly but realistically sir mugo is the only mugo that is even suitable as a love interest. I like monster mugo too but his childlike demeanor makes him inappropriate in my eyes. And jerk mugo needs extensive therapy and anger management, and also lessons on what consent actually is （￣へ￣）
I kinda blame the public for that shit cus you see manwha like Jinx doing the best while wholesome manwha like Mushroom or Indulged in your Light are less popular
I also like old Mugo the most and I hope the mean Mugo at least gets some character development.

Oh you really are onto something. We are so used to those mechanics in BL that we don’t even notice them anymore. And it says something that I might be able to notice this faster when it comes to hetero literature even tho those tropes are also very persistent in that genre. We will fear the kinder and less « passionate » lover when he’s secretive than the « fiery » one that show us his colors directly even tho the secretive one might not even do anything wrong in the end.

I agree about putting halos on red flags part and how it's been normalized in yaoi. Thinking back, that never really changed unless someone intentionally made green flag characters. The genre was mostly flooded with that toxic crap. And it's not just the public to blame, the publishers too. They produce contents that will arouse people's emotions, like those that stress them out and make them curse the toxic ML because they'll definitely stick around to know if the MC dumps his ass and paid him ten times the crap he put him through.
I'm on the fence about sir Mugo. Can't say he's that clean. I re read the first 9 chapters and his first impression was really strong when advocating that he's the good one. Since we had a nice impression of him, it's hard to think otherwise, but his wishy-washy actions was really suspicious. Well, not everything is out yet, so him being suspicious could be just a plot to throw readers off the mark. The writer's been playing mind games with us from the beginning and some of the clues were subtly out in the open it's hard to notice, so we've yet to know. But, whatever he is, I hope they don't write him poorly too since he's been the most interesting character so far.
