A statement before reading: Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and this is mine. If you don't like it, ignore it or try to persuade me (warning, it won't be easy). ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
I don't understand some of y'all argue that Helena can stand up to the prince and disobey his words. If the author hasn't made this clear enough, Helena is a maid, a maid with a "low" status—to the point where even the other maids avoid her. She has no power to disobey the prince, she is a commoner. In addition, Helena grew up being told by her highly emotional and unstable mother to (essentially) "play dumb".
When the prince escorted her to Eris's coming-of-age ball, she couldn't deny him. Helena had to ditch her own escort to go with him and wear the dress tailored to fit her:,( (poor sexy red-haired knight). Of course, I'm only mentioning one instance where she couldn't do anything but obey, there are many more mentioned and shown.
If anything, the hate should be directed more towards the prince. The prince is highly misogynistic and self-entitled. He "plays" around with Eris, giving her hope when she receives a royal invitation, only to be shown the harsh reality of him flirting with a maid of low-status? Not only that, but he has made a fool of her and now Helena (the dress fiasco). This ass (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸
Tldr; the hate shouldn't really be directed to Helena as she has no power or authority of the situation. Eat the rich ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
