As a person involved in the medical field, specifically neuropsychiatry…this actually does explain everything. I’ll go on to say that it’s actually commendable that he grew up with a successful career, no serious illlegal behaviors, and a rather…decent moral compass. It doesn’t justify him being a horrible person to Dr. Dan and it never will but it DOES explain why he is the way he is. He’s had a very difficult, very traumatic start to his life.
I repeat: it DOES NOT FORGIVE his actions towards Dr. Dan. Just because you’re hurt doesn’t mean you can go on to hurt other people. But IT DOES EXPLAIN why he’s such a sh1thead. His Daddy Issues are nuclear, so to speak. ╮(￣▽￣)╭

understand that using money to coerce sex from someone isn't moral. going beyond someone's discomfort during sex without their full enthusiastic consent is not moral. continuing to press someone for sex when they've already said no multiple times is not moral. tracking someone down when they've cut contact is not moral. treating someone like shit when they are totally under your power is not moral. and of course, having sex with someone that's developed feelings for you when you have already rejected them and know it's painful for them is not moral. all of this, especially when they're in such a situation that they have to put up with that behavior to pay for an ailing family member's continued survival. you're right when you say dan isn't his partner. jk is a nightmare john, the kind that gets rejected by SWers bc his behavior is indicative of escalation. he's really not a smut-romance character, he belongs in a horror.
