I will truly never understand /why/ bl authors always need the drama to be s*xual assault?? There are so many other plot devices you could use to move the story along, and yet they have the protagonist s*xually assaulted just for shits and giggles. If they're gonna do that, they could at the very least punish the r*pist later in the story but (in most cases) they go without consequences. I'm so tired of it
I agree whole heartedly,, it's just bad/lazy writing and it feels like the authors just get off on the whole "the victim's partner finds out and gets angry and *sometimes* beats up the r*pist" thing (tho unfortunately many BLs just have someone in the main couple being a r*pist, but they don't really see that as a problem huh).
And then you have some people trying defend the authors, saying stuff like it's not even real or if you don't like it don't read it. Both of those things are some of the most annoying shit people will say on this website istg. Like their morals are obviously a little....and god forbid you "talk shit" about specific BL, beyond the fact that constantly using s*xual assault as a plot device like you said, it's just awful writing....and then there's people who will defend these character's actions just because the character is hot or sm, or they'll zone in on maybe ONE thing the r*pist in a BL has done that's somewhat good, and talk about "character development )? I can go on and on LOL but yes, good point.
Yes!!!! It's basically lazy writing. The thing that irrates me more is when they add a sad backstory for the rapist to justify or make us pity them( I never do).
Other authors also give them a side chapters and have a happily ending, i mean its not wrong everyone deserve a second chance but there's a limit you know. Can they at least go in the jail and regret what they did or someone will knock them off so they will realize what they did. Im tired reading a manhwa like this.

It's disgusting how s*xual assault is so common in bl's They're actively normalising r*pe culture, especially when one of the main couple is the r*pist and he gets forgiven almost immediately

Exactly! The whole normalizing r*pe culture thing is exactly what people don't understand they are doing, when they act like just b/c it's fiction, it does not matter. But whether they like it or not and no matter how many times they keep saying they can separate reality from fiction, it's simply not true. Whatever fiction you read is bound to have an impact on you and how you think, especially when it's reoccuring thing (like SA in BLs) which is very evident in many of these comment sections. One person I saw commented on a post sm like "smd if you think this is victim-blaming..." and then just went on to victim blame..and then I try to say like yea that's textbook example of victim blaming. And then OF COURSE! They bring out the whole "ok they aren't even real, why use yk ideas from the real world and bring it into fiction" and I was like WHAT. Fiction is literally based off of reality and why only mention that it's fiction after just being told you're wrong...man the comments ppl be leaving have me worried.

And dont even get me started about how chapters that feature s*xual assault never include tw's
