I have seen first hand something like that happen, my cousin has gone through something similar with her grandmother and it’s sad. She had dementia and didn’t remember neither my cousin nor her father( grandma’s son) even thought they loved her since she didn’t recognize them she treated them awfully( she was really aggressive) and I think both parties suffered because of it.
I don’t know if I would have done the same as him but I can’t really blame him for sparing her of what he thought would be painful for both of them.
This is one of my favorite mangas of all time so when o heard it got a live action I was afraid they would mess it up.
Honestly there were many things that were really good about the LA, like Isumi’s actor was on point and Shouji’s too was just like the character, I like the way the LA approaches the Isumi’s dad topic and I found it cute the recipe notebook thing, the doggies were cute too.
But there were some things that bothered me about the LA, like Amasawa’s actor was really stiff, didn’t really look Isumi’s in the eye, he looked a little awkward and that made me feel a bit awkward too lol, they changed the part where they sleep together in a way that made it look like Isuzu was just drunk when he got onto the bed and they made it look like Youhei had a crush on Isumi and that made me sad because in the manga they are almost brothers and that’s what I liked about their relationship, another thing that is different in the LA is the girl that confessed to Isumi, that was a really big thing on the LA and was totally different from the manga so … well it bothered me, but it was fine.
Overall I really enjoyed the series and it was really good, I still like the manga more but the series gave some more depth to the characters. Anyway, it was good.
