guys.... I'm totally projecting but still I keep thinking this is what it's like getting by in the US. A society built on stolen wealth and abject terror. it's like "the town".

    I love how you think

sorry I meant "the lottery" short story published by Shirley Jackson in the 1940's about a town in Vermont where every year someone chosen randomly through a lottery is ritualistically stoned to death for basically no reason. It's fiction but critiques the sickening conformity of Americans who maintain their peaceful existences by allowing a morally repugnant society to operate without dissent. I love to stumble upon such sophisticated themes while I'm just trying to read some smut it really makes me feel like I'm not completely wasting my time reading Yaoi lmfao whoever said all porn is devoid of literary or artistic value can suck my butt

Oh my god thanks for explaining it even more hehe This is as really nuanced take and I forgot all about that short story but there are striking similarities… Also hahaha the last comment I love when there’s an underlying theme in the story it’s always more fun to dissect!

This is an awsome addition to reading this honestly, and is making me feel like a cockroach but what can you do when everyone around you has the possibility of chopping off your head. -play "Villain by Miyashita Yuu" to understand where Im coming from-

There Will Come Soft Rains By Ray Bradbury always gets me. And it’s almost the time his story was set in which definitely freaked me out for a minutes
