I used the 'top manga' feature where it gives you the top current works, and the top from a random date. I git February of 2011 and forgot how good so many of these older series are! This site seems a lot more active now than in the past so I wonder if we could give a shoutout to series you think have maybe been lost to time!
If you haven't read this yet, I recommend it:

This one has some intense non-con elements that haven't aged well so TW, but I still enjoy it. Guilty pleasure?

I clicked it and got March of 2012! Some great series like Haru wo Daite Ita and Love Mode popped up. Such a difference to the recent top stories listed right below, which are almost exclusively webtoons. There were also some wild ones back then lol like Sex Pistols (which is STILL ongoing!!)
Smells Like Green Spirit is a great shout, it's really stuck with me since I read it.
Some of my favorite oldies are Silver Diamond, Mamono No Monogatari, Doushitemo Furetakunai, Doushiyoumo Nai Keredo, Doukyuusei, and Himegoto Asobi.

I have absolutely adored this author for a very long time, this is one of my fav stories from them!

Oh, I started reading that a while ago, but I think my expectations were different than what the story actually was so I never finished lol. I should go back to it now with fresh eyes. Jazz music is a big part of the plot, right? Have you seen the anime adaptation and would you say that is better than just reading the manga considering the music?
Thanks for the recs, half of these I'd not heard of before and the others I'd mostly forgotten about! IKR, a bit insane to think of series like Sex Pistols and Junjou Romantica which used to be considered kings of the genre and now have dwindled in popularity despite still being active (at least online that is not sure abt the readership elsewhere).
If you liked Green Spirit I was also reminded of Life Senjou no Bokura while looking through my read list, I think it has very similar vibes.
Honestly don't know how to feel about this one. The artstyle is beautiful but it does fall a bit into a genre I call grief porn where the worst possible thing will always happen, similar to that one Magical Girl Site series.
It's a little bit messy, could anyone clarify for me if in the original timeline where Takopi was helping Marina, did she still bully Shizuku in middle/elementary school prior to 2022? It's mentioned Shizuku still attempted in that timeline but the rope snapped and I'm just assuming that means she still experienced the bullying, unless it was just the rest of her shitty life events that influenced her.
Overall I did enjoy it but I don't come away from it feeling satisfied, the ending is a bit of a cop out. The author also seems to bounce back and forth over Takopi being a metaphor/coping mechanism and I wish they had committed harder. The anime this has gotten though is great stylistically and maybe when its completed I'll binge to see if they cleaned up the story too!
Marina did it for a while longer though it wasn't specified?(I came from the anime adaptation) But I assumed that it didn't last long to the middle school cuz Marina's dad finally left her family and married Shizuka's mom, making them move to another place before Shizuka came back to the hometown and attend highschool where the three reunited and scenes unfold
