Asher didn't say he was required to like him back, he's just trying to understand what the fuck Remington is thinking. He clearly showed romantic interest in him, on set when he would kiss him when it wasn't part of the script AND offset in little things he did. Asher didn't push too far because he thought marriage was the obstacle but it wasn't so he's trying to make sense of all Remington's actions now. As he should, they need to communicate properly.
