I'm happy the author included the past incident with the MC and acknowledged that it was super traumatic and scary. Stuff like that occurs too often in sports, and is often dismissed too easily and brushed to the side (even if nothing in particular happened, them discussing harming the MC so causally was horrifying). Particularly in hockey, hazing, hurting skilled players and r*pe culture are often encouraged and ignored. So, it's nice to see an author shed light on these issues and write about them seriously.
