Alright but you need to be in the mood for it . The ML doesn't have any redeeming qualities, he just doesn't want to kill anymore because he realised his obsession was more persistent in saving the world and well, he'd do anything for his obsession. The MC was more moving, with his desperation to save the ML because he was tired of killing everyone he cared about, of having to abandon his loved ones, and although he didn't love ML, he cared about him. Overall though, I love it when beauty and the beast is explored. It was quite unique as well: MC is dedicated af and doesn't fall into victim mentality.
