I don't have a problem with a slow burn love story, but when it came time to talking about the l-word (not the show) Noah would say that she stayed because the ml liked her and even asked him about it. Here's the thing, there was no development to her having romantic feelings, so her choosing to say because he likes her read like he's someone she's comfortable with, but not romantically inclined to. And the confrontation was something else because why is she saying that she confessed...babes, you asked him if he liked you, not that you liked him. All I can imagine is that anyone's who's ever liked someone and never had the courage to take the step but the person of their affection questioned them like that, the first though wouldn't be "oh they like me too," but rather a state of panic at if the person does not want to be around them.
I also got confused at why she acted weird when he seemed thrown off at her standing wrapped in a towel. I just want to know what scenario she wanted, because I know it ain't the same scenario of a group of people who don't give a care and love to tease.
It would've been nice if we got more ba-dump scenes.
I understood that the ending would be rushed by how often it was mentioned in the comments, but not to the point it was that rushed. I really was hoping Rezef developed emotional (although he helped progress the story a lot) the same way Kayena got to do so because she came back and changed. They both had a miserable upbringing and it's kinda depressing how not only was his mother killed, apparently his friends were killed as well. He just reminds me of a kid who self-destructs because that's all he knows how to do.
This whole thing about blaming children because of the actions of adult is just ugh. The late empress decided to get freaky blame her, not Rezef, abs not Kayena for sharing her blood. And ML who's name I forgot but I'm too tired, from what was shown, same shit with his parents, why is his dad specifically judging his blood like they ain't got the same blood type. At this point, we should all start a pub called The Fatherless where we give out shirts and drinks that have on the noes jokes about terrible fathers.
.Also, I thought they were gonna reveal how he was involved in the nanny being banished and exiled but no. And Kayena's other ladies-in-waiting barely got screen time. I get that they showed them early on but barely. I thought they'd show us they're intelligent at their jobs but no. That was done through exposition during the last few chapters. (I didn't want to count the first kitchen scandal as Kayena got involved in that.) Like where are the other 2 ladies in waiting. The one with shirt black hair appeed for one chapter, but the other one appears when needed. I thought the blonde one would be one we see grow, especially after what happened with her brother.
Also, the Heinrich household, (with a child who may be able to be on the throne) needed more story to it. I thought I'd be shitting myself when the dude was on screen but nah. Felt like I was hearing that one annoying kid that says a lot but does nothing. It would've been more entertaining if they built a more threatening appearance, like Rezef...who made me feel like he would stab anyone in the room.
One more thing, I did believe Kayena had plans to put Rezef on the throne, but even though she kept saying that, it didn't feel like she'd actually do it. Was hoping the two spent more time together. Does anyone have recommendations involving siblings developing bonds. I usually read one with parents one, but I as want one with siblings against the world.
Sorry for the rambling
The story so far only has 9 chapters, but has such funny and cute moments. If you're wondering whether or not you should read it, do it. For now, ima step away from the story till there are enough chapters.
Don't get me wrong, the ending was OK and I'm happy for Chiwoo, but Hwan did not geta proper redemption arc. When Hwan woke up and no one remembered Chiwoo, I kinda wanted what happened to Jin to have happened to him, so Hwan would be forced to accept his greed was that bad.
Even more so because he killed Jin in front of Chiwoo, who had to relive what happened to his parents. I also felt bad for Hwan's mother. She's so sweet, and when Chiwoo apologised and told her that he loved her, that shit got me in the hear. So far, Hwan's mother, Jin and Sunny are m favourite characters. Chiwoo has a special place in my heart but damn.... just damm
I usually like seeing how a character who was once looked down on prove they are far better than they were perceived by others.
With how the king was perceived as someone who does not care about his country (like when the others were talking about politics on accepting help from another country or not because it would affect their country's image) and he would often say how he doesn't care, and they should handle it themselves versus how he was helping people at the brothel had me interested. But, as you go on, you realise this so called king is useless. He has yet to pull a carefully political move that will either strengthen his country's image or thwart those using him. Instead, he really does give the energy of someone who "happens" to be a king and not someone "born to be a king" which only further dulls put his character. Instead, he is a simple man who gets horny.
I am still reading but with how the characters make it feel like a task to keep going, I had to pause repeatedly. I'm hoping the king proves otherwise and it's done cleverly and not revealed as "see guys, I'm not so bad, I'm smart."
Sorry for the rant, but I really wanted to read something where the uke is in power, proving they're are smart and able to deceive others with ease. The kind who has people around them who are both useful and loyal. (Recommend any pieces that are worth the read)
I'll also accept any spoilers because I'm suffering (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜 thanks
This really got me crying at the end ┗( T﹏T )┛ very bittersweet, especially with how the ending came into play
