i know a lot of ppl are worried they’re gonna break up, especially since everyone on tik tok keeps spamming that theory, but i doubt they’ll break up. (i’m kinda coping but hear me out.) it’s pretty obvious that both of them are experiencing difficulties with feeling comfortable enough to display their relationship in public (especially andrew tweaking out over the fact he can’t be as social as luke and how he struggles to share his emotions) because it doesn’t seem “normal” to others. earlier, andrew struggled to figure out what his relationship was with luke. andrew is someone who struggles to communicate with luke for obvious traumatic reasons, but it didn’t stop luke from reassuring him. their communication isn’t necessarily bad, considering this is their first gay relationship. it’s normal to go through a lack of communication with your partner sometimes.
the author didn’t really drag this issue either (as any normal relationship would do), but now both of them have reached the point where a lot of hidden queer relationships struggle to figure out how close they can be to their partner in public. this is the part where a lot of relationships begin to have a rocky start, but it doesn’t mean all queer relationships come to an end. luke doesn’t seem like the type of guy to give up what he likes so easily (his long history with his ex as an example), but i do see andrew setting his emotions and feelings aside if it means it’ll protect luke from any harm.
i’m sure there will be angst with their relationship, but i don’t think it will be that drastic to the point it leads to a break up. as someone who is queer and has been in a gay relationship, i feel like what they’re going through is normal, and we’re reaching the realistic part of a gay relationship. being gay is not easy, but i know a lot of ppl who have to keep their relationship hidden because of their country’s views or because their parents can’t accept the fact their child is different.
i really love the way the author chose to represent their relationship in such a realistic way, because a lot of ppl forget homophobia and prejudice still exist, unfortunately. i may be very wrong with my claim (this is a manhwa for entertainment after all) but seeing how the author chose to direct their relationship, i’m really hoping andrew and luke will find a way to make their relationship work and learn how to face the obstacles of a queer relationship in a healthy way.
