it's so good to the point it's so bad yet it's still good but bad. that's it. that's my summary for this manhwa.

if u like stories with op ml and u dont like harem u should read.
it's a little different to other typical manhwas and the flow of the plot is very natural. personally i had mixed emotions with the romance added in the plot but it was bearable than other manhwas with the same plot.
i've come to realize that the kdrama was actually adapted from a webnovel and tried looking for a webtoon and stumbled upon this. it seems that the webtoon chapters also align to the drama setting on episode 1.
this is where the spoiler will be. skip if you're reading / watching the drama / webtoon.
i think that the drama's episode 1 lacked context and focused more on the ML, while the webtoon focused more on the FL and her trauma, family setting, which clears up the confusion i've had when watching the drama. episode 1 had vague explanation of things and just shows the flow of the setting, im guessing now that they showed the FL is the one staging the kidnap calls, they'll explain more on the following episodes.
while on the webtoon, the fl's side of the story showed first and im guessing there on it'll progress with the ml.
this is a funny review because of the sudden kdrama mix in but the first episode of the drama left me confused, but i'm still invested because of the actors. plot wise, it is lacking a lot and i will see and compare both webtoon and kdrama which has better progression.
oh so the webtoon just release right? there's no upcoming or more episodes on this right?
i just rly dont understand the need for derrick's pov...? is it so that the readers can grasp his' point of view or sympathize with him? man if it is, i do not like him MORE after reading his delusions LOL

i think its to show that the current Yvonne’s plan was to brainwash the whole family and Derrick was the easiest one to brainwash as he had unrelieved guilt over losing the og yvonne. you could see derrick slowly getting out of it while realising his “feelings” for penelope
yall need to see other povs as well for the manga to provide good storyline and character building omdss let characters be complex. Thats if you want a good manga and not some romantic generic storyline though
If you look closely on Derick’s eyes closely, he’s not his normal self and seems like hypnotized. Which means Yvonne has some dark magic in her (she’s not the real Yvonne btw)
im only 6 chapters in and so far im not really liking the bottom. does it get better or not? i might just drop this because i cant really stand manipulative innocent looking pushover guys like him

Hmm it depends!! What don’t you like about him? I dropped this webtoon back then as well, but for a different reason I believe (it was way later into the story) but I’m SO GLAD I picked it up again!!! TT it gets so good and there is so much development as well!

That’s true though and in my opinion, it will actually stay that way. The main conflict will resolve around yirim as well and it was kinda hypocritical too BUT it sounds worse than it actually is.

Honestly, It’s good as it is. I’m so happy and satisfied that they did not squeezed it enough to make several arcs and longer timeline that, on the long run, becomes a boring ass manga / anime.
It seems that instead of the main plot, there can be areas where the mangaka can create side stories and ovas just for the viewers but the main plot is good as it is.
the manga showed exactly what the title is, “Kaiju No. 8” without it straying away from the plot. i do agree that it’s a bit short, but the story was very fullfiling.
