let’s unpack. first she had an idea that he doesn’t feel the same way and hopes that along the way he will finally “reciprocate” the love she feels towards him but of course given that (let’s say) that he only feels indebted towards her that’s why he asked her.
and second, she planned how to entangle her life with the guy because she knows if she only ended it with the day she helped the dad at the hospital and it ends with that day, the gap or the months even years not being able to see the guy doesn’t work for her. so she deliberately— sacrificed so there can be a point in the guy’s life that’s she’s very VERY involved.
now, did she got she wanted? yes, he even asked her instead of her. but the “same” feelings? no she didn’t got it. do i blame the guy? no. do i hate the guy? NO. i can’t even hate nor dislike him because as she said, HE WAS CONSISTENT. HE CARED FOR HER. the only thing he wasn’t successful is—trying to love her.
