And overall just my opinion Ines been through a lot all she just wants is a peaceful life within herself only not nobody else, but she know she can’t do that consider the time period she is in

You clearly struggle to understand Ines.

1. Ines isn’t in love with Emiliano. She used him to flee her family and loved him and her child with him but she’s not IN love with him. You wanting him back has more to do with you than her own feelings for him. There is no happy ending where Emiliano is concerned.

2. Carcel was a 6 year old boy when Ines who was an adult in a child’s body, basically decided she’d be engaged to him. The fact that some readers still think that’s enough to warrant some sort of loyalty from him is so mind-boggling to me. According to some of yall, he basically should’ve lived his life according to
Ines’s whims. Live like a monk during his teenage years even when she constantly rejected him. Then marry him when she’s good and ready and then divorce him when she’s good and ready… and y’all think that’s okay?! I just freaking can’t. Im glad my boy lived his own life even if he was hurt when she kept turning him down. He didn’t even start being with other women until he was 16, which is perfectly normal

Ok relax y’all it’s just an opinion lord have mercury literally stated it in the next comment and plus I was pretty neutral about Carcel and looking foward to how the relationship will play out but the way people choose to "defend" his earlier cheating actions is soiling him for me rather than making him more likeable

I'm all for flawed characters because they tend to make you more invested and was actually intrigued by how Carcel started out but when people try to sanitize those flaws in order to make the character more palatable it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Saying Ines "brainwashed"(???) him into cheating is absolutely insane like wtf kinda excuse is that?! Did she give him a horny elixir?! Or did she alter his brain chemistry to want to sleep with multiple women??

Not having feelings or disliking her(none of which apply to him, but let's say for the sake of the argument) because of the way she treats him or because he never wanted any parts in the marriage/didn't have a choice is one thing. How he chooses to react to it is a whole other issue he is entirely accountable for.

Ines could be the queen of hell descended dressed head to toe in tin cans who materializes a new woman infront of him every week and says he's free to sleep with them and she still isn't accountable for if he chooses to do so. The fact is that it is proactive choice he made and to try to pin that on Ines is bizarre and frankly irritating

Him becoming a playboy as a way to gain attention from Ines and nestle his unrequited feelings is an interesting toxic coping mechanism but the readers being so insistent on taking away his agency is annoying- like if you want to play things black and white so bad a real man would have resisted the urge to cheat even if she casted a 1000 year old spell on him with the power of his love alone since it's so strong

I think what bothers me about his sleeping around isn't just our modern morals that say that cheating when you're engaged to someone is wrong, it's that even in his world, time period, and culture, he knew full well that what he was doing was something that hurt her reputation, not just his own.

Engagements from a young age in their culture are the norm for nobles, but while I'm sure some level of infidelity before marriage (at least for men) was considered pretty standard, the lack of discretion and the level he went to with it were enough that it was a matter of public gossip, and he even put off their marriage well beyond the normal marriageable age and continued these affairs, causing even more gossip.

Yes, she chose him because she wanted that outcome (and because if she hadn't, she would have been engaged to that awful prince instead), but he made those choices thinking that she was madly in love with him, and believing that his actions were hurtful to her. He was surprised when she caught him that she didn't care, because he 100% expected this to break her heart.

Ines isn't guiltless, sure she was using him, but that has no bearing on whether or not he was knowingly doing things that he believed would both damage her reputation and emotionally devastate her.

Again this all opinion based no need to for negative energy or distraught comments

literally i hate when people group characters up as basic “playboys” it takes away the characters depth. Like brooo Carcel is suchhhhh a unique male lead and the people saying “ines deserve better” need to realize both of them have made mistakes and they’re just biased because ines is the main focus!

They're probably just self-inserting into her bc Ines' thoughts are also just as unique as Carcel. He's more than a playboy. We don't get that many manhwa with as many male lead's thoughts. Like how many male leads can understand their female leads like that but also don't know everything like today's chapter. He imagines seeing Ines being with Oscar and it did happen before but he don't know that yet (▰˘◡˘▰)

it’s hard for me to explain off the top of my head but what i will say is neither of them are in the wrong. He was betrayed by a girl he was raised to believe loved him and forced to be alone at the training thing, not defending infidelity but people are going to make irrational decisions. Also not saying he followed her blindly but she DID quite literally manipulate him into developing the IDEA of cheating by ruining their reputations and realationship.
Not to mention if you pay attention AT ALL to the infidelity you’d realize she never loved Emiliano, rather she loved the IDEA of loving him ifykim. She feels sentimental when she sees him, she doesn’t miss their affection she missed their memories together. It sounds similar but when you think about it, it makes a lot of sense.
Also this is shown more in the novel but is kinda shown now in the recent chapters but Carcel always held feelings for her, even in their previous lives and even if Ines discarded him. Both main leads are very unique characters with insane depth that add to the angst. I know you don’t “dislike” carcel but i’d hope you’d be able to try and dissect his character down to more than just “a cheater who’s wife deserves better”, because he’s genuinely one of the most realistic-well written male leads i’ve seen in a while.
