If you’re someone that likes angst but is sick of it being used poorly in stories with little depth and you want actual character development and motivation then READ THIS. If has a happy ending too. It’s so well done I’m the type that usually dislikes miscommunication tropes but this was done so tastefully and made sense in the context of the story cuz skylar was in an abusive household. Even the mc goes through tremendous character growth and as the reader we understand why he was timid and depressed from the consistent trauma from violent bullying. Genuinely wish there was more. Yes skylar was a completely terrible person in the beginning but looking at the way his mother manipulated him and tricked him into hating the one person who truly cared for him (mc) is classic narcissistic parental behavior, isolating their child from the people around them and taking control of their life through mind games. The groveling phase was also great and I’m glad he genuinely apologized to mc even if his home life was the reason. Overall an amazing read
