After a lot of events, its starting to get better like their chemistry and all but then kay ask zygril if he loves him and he said no hes just a plaything and want to keep him for a few months. Kay got a little disappointed but glad its not love and he was supposed to return to his hometown after a few days. Zygril saw his expression and thought hes rejecting him by not wanting to stay with him. Then, he offered to stop nearby and cook for Kay and he mixed the flower and feed it to him. After Kay ate he laughed and said thats what he het for rejecting him and impregnate him. So fast forward they became emperor and empress because of that and their relationship still isnt any better, Zygril doesnt like his child as well, because it prevented them from having sex. And cut to the part where Zygril forced Kay to have sex because hes jealous and their son (a baby) who normally cries ALL THE TIME isnt crying, just staring at them and Kay thought “youre mother is crying. why are you happy—a terrible father makes for terrible children.”

i was so disappointed because its starting to get sooooo good and the potential for it to have a cute happy ending or at least roses and champagne kind of chemistry but ehh the power imbalance never went away and that ending line was awfully sad

I didn't actually read it, I got spoilers from NU where everyone said there's a plot about deposing Zygril and a plot about a mirror. The consensus is that they get a happy ending. Someone also questioned the issue about 2 volumes versus 4 volumes.

If this is true then this is the best thing I've read today lol
