The main couple of this manga has a big age gap (she's 10 for now and he's 19), so if that makes you uncomfortable then DON'T READ IT. Take care of yourself and don't read something that might squick you.

(I don't mind it because of the way it's framed, but there's tons of people in the comments that seem really uncomfortable with the story so it's better to warn new readers to help them avoid it)

Everyone here is at a constant 11 in drama so I can't take this too seriously (which is good). I want to tell both demons "Sir, this is an Arby's..."

...I DO question the mc judgement, though.

My actual pet kitty is really sick right now, I tried to read something to distract myself a bit... but reading this chapter was the worst idea.

I love this webtoon, but man... this hit me like a truck...

My nerd self couldn't stop thinking that this would be waaaay more interesting if Cupid was more like Eros in the mythology, since the way Ancient Greece understood love was... pretty different, let's say.

But I haven't read much yet, so maybe it touches upon this later on?

I mean it does bother me that a supposed greek god is saying stuff ''oh no i matched two men that will NEVER work'' like bruh XD

    O.o

    "Ancient Greece understood love was"?

Like more than the chinese understand love?

I love greek mythology, but i never read about cupid. Can you expand a bit more on that topic?

Cupid is the roman equivalent of Eros, strictly speaking, but in this story they're interchangeable. Eros himself represent SEXUAL love, not just love in general, and he's even referred as "a monster even the gods fear" in some versions of his myth with Pysche, which shows a bit how the Greek thought of love. The sort of love Eros represented was seen as a form of madness, as a punishment even (which is why Aphrodite's punishments sometimes were about making others fall in love with the worst person/animal/object possible).

The Greek had different nuances or words for love (agápe, philia, éros, storge), which represented different aspects of it (love for the gods, friendship or love between equals, sexual love -which isn't necessarily considered 'between equals', btw-, and familial or parental love). Sexual love, in particular, wasn't seen as something positive, rather as something to be afraid of, because it could lead you to do really stupid things. Again, a form of madness.

Which is why calling Eros' arrows as an inefficient way of making people falling is... missing the point a little. Of course Eros uses a literal weapon to do his job, he's someone you should be afraid of. In some myths he's Aphrodite's son, but there are other myths in which he's one of the primordial gods (meaning he existed before the classic Olympians and even the titans). Basically, he's no joke in Greek mythology. We just... kinda turned him into one as time went by (and probably the Romans contributed a lot to this).

The most unrealistic thing out of this entire webtoon is that Gunchan writes his scripts on paper. Someone give him a laptop, please.

Jokes aside, I really love this one and can't wait for the updates. (I'm up to date on tappy, I ended up buying the chapters Michi didn't upload, and it's still not enough haha)

I wanted to give my two cents about this webcomic, seeing as many seem to dislike Areum for not falling head over heels for the Duke. I think that the author seems to have pretty intentionally made this a slow burn, and Areum attitude towards the Duke purposefully defies the cliché of the heroine forgiving the hero of the abuse he committed, because "he's misunderstood". I really like that aspect of the story. Areum isn't bipolar, she's doing what she thinks she must do to survive. She's a teenager thrown in such circumstances and yet she does her best to avoid angering someone who, in her first encounter, proved that could killed her if he got tired of her. She's quite admirable, actually.

What's more, the Duke used to hold a position of absolute power over her. Of course she can't see his actions as romantic, when she feels like she's under the constant threat of death. Yes, he tries to be kind to her, but she has every right to be scared of him. And you have to consider that, while many of his actions are normal for the culture he lives in (particularly considering his position), to someone like Areum they can seem monstrous. When he punished the maids for locking Areum out, it was... yikes. She might now know that, but we do. There's nothing cute about those actions.

All in all, after he apologizes, she seems to genuinely see him in a new light, or at least she's starting to do so. She is kind to him out of her own volition and not because she feels threatened, so it's not pure one sided love either. Think of this as a beauty-and-the-beast sort of tale: he needs to be kinder for her to respond with honesty, and she needs to see the good in him (which is... deeply buried, let's say).

To me, this story seems to want to execute certain clichés in a more "realistic" light, or at least in a more thoughtful way, and I can respect that. Both character have shaped their attitudes in response to different traumas, and these, let's say, "coping mechanisms" are the source of their flaws and miscommunications, which is a pretty interesting starting point. They both have LONG ways to go, so I'm interested in seeing how the story develops in the future.
