terrible treatment of the duke imo. he deserves better. adele is a manipulative bitch in the later chapters and agreed with weird shit like “love is best with a little bit of obsession” or whatever. the duke was traumatized and not ready to actually say “i love you” and she ran away and forced him to confess to her in a grand way instead of patiently waiting for him to learn to love. asshole
