What's Wrong with Secretary Kim?
the romance was cute, but the epilogue with Ms.Kim's/child's note was one of my fave endings. The pacing was great and I'm glad it didn't just end in a wedding all of a sudden. I also appreciated how they broke the 4th wall for us sometimes. Ms.Kim was such a good character very fun and honest- she didn't seem flimsy. she felt like a real person and her passive aggressiveness was VERY CORPORATE lol
The Lady and Her Butler
WOW fantastic! this is a love story! I know people have complained about the development of the male lead, but I think it's 100% warranted. Considering how he powered through so many traumatic and abusive events in short period of time -it makes sense for him to break down like that at the hands of betrayal and his 'inability' to physically protect himself let alone someone he loves. While I didn't like seeing him hurt and hurt others, Taesoo was himself from start to finish. I also appreciate the MC she's also such an honest and authentic lead. It never felt like a "I'm different from the girls" or "chosen one" trope. She was a decent person, who showed kindness and compassion, even when it was difficult or awkward she was straightforward, she had fears and her own baggage that she didn't necessarily hide behind but she saw how it shaped her future. I also appreciated how she didn't necessarily resolve her issues with her mother -again honest and real. I loved this story.
Crash Into Me
the characters were quite tender and the drama was great. When I thought I knew what was coming, I didn't. The sex scenes ranged from tender to naaaaasttaaayyyy and I loved it. There was so much emotion all the time, simplu through the dialogue and the pacing. There's some stories where the actions carry a lot of meaning and the dialogue is alright. But here both the plot and the dialogue create a the scene and there were so many times were I was so excited or vulnerable because I FELT the scene within me and from all fronts. beautiful!
Till Our Lips Touch
the villain was homophobia!!!! this is a really sweet story as expected and what really makes it is the honest communication between the main couple as well as their commitment to each other. THAT said! I'm still confused on: Thancred's sexuality, the relationship Greg/Izzy have with Mickey and his brothers, is Mickey also gay?, the story behind 'Honey Don', is Mark also Greg??, who's Alphie?? a friend??, What I want more of: The Chairman teasing Izzy (cuz its cute), Don's love story with Greg!!!
Toy Complex
WHAT AN ADORABLE SERIES! I like yuna's character especially her generosity. Its personally how I live my life anyway. However, her perseverance and belief that everything will work out... yea I need some of that. I like how they hinted that these traits of hers were due to her home environment and having parents that wanted her to express herself fully at al times -from the parent perspective, that's really admirable. I cried a few times (didn't expect to at all) because of Minseok's story. It's not about him having a hard life or having to do so much work, but him putting up walls, stopping himself from experiencing unconditional love and joy because he thinks he doesn't deserve it or that he's not allowed. Man those parts really hit home. Omg and when he broke down at the restaurant wow. I think I haven't seen ML be vulnerable and exam their feelings and walls in this way before. I don't think the tough guy often cries and reflects as he did so it was refreshing. While it seemed like yuna had "sooo much to offer" I never felt like their relationship had power imbalances but at the same time I was highly aware that minseok was uncomfortable with what he felt was unequal. The author did a great job creating a couple that are opposites, completing each other and shifting to meet their goals/needs/desires by leaning into their strengths/weakness in that moment. also, minseok looks like is my typeeeeeeeee! but i really couldn't do all the chasing Yuna did s/o to her patience and THAT is how she made her love real
Horimiya
