The Makeup Remover
Okay. I will start off by first saying that I LOVED this manwha, it’s so meaningful and well thought out. The characters are all spectacular and have such beautiful dynamics between each other, the story is great and sheds light on a lot of important issues in the beauty and entertainment industry- for this, I adore this read. However, it’s tagged as a romance, and it even builds upon the romance between the main 2 characters amazingly, they have such perfect chemistry and it felt like a perfect slow burn of self discovery mixed with romantic discovery. However, it delivered on NONE of these promises, the ending is frankly rushed and felt unsatisfactory- for some, they may like the openness of it, but truthfully it isn’t even an open ending, it’s just a bad ending- like being served a perfect, amazing 20 course Michelin star meal, and than for desert they give you a store bought cupcake. It was just disappointing. Romance doesn’t have to be the main focus, I’m glad it wasn’t, it just made the slow connection between them that much more realistic and enjoyable. But if your going to tag your work as romance, than actually give us that, otherwise, don’t use it, it feels slimy and left me with a sour taste in my mouth afterward.
