Aiou Futari
gay disowned kid meets gay adopted kid and they fall in love. there’s also a moderate amount of mommy issues thrown in the mix. first manga i’ve actually read in which both parties are openly gay and healthy about their feelings.. (and isn’t that something)
Hige to Suzu to Shabondama
a slice of life oneshot that lets us take a peek into the daily life of a five year-old couple. it’s sweet, i love the panelling and the pacing and the art and EVERYTHING. just perfect. it’s that type of show don’t tell manga that i love. it doesn’t waste time feeding us useless plotpoints, i’d argue it doesn’t even have any nor does it need them, and by the end of the volume you have a good picture of the characters and their relationship. beautifully executed. “This story first came about under the idea that when a loved one dies, the other party always reminisces about the memories they had together. And they're like a scrapbook of snapshots of happy moments together. It was to be a story with a solemn feel to it. Even the title was created with that idea of fleeting moments in mind. But the characters took on a life of their own, with a bright personality and free-spirited resolve, it transformed into a story about two different souls coming together. Thank you all for taking this journey of their tales of their lives!”
The Beast Must Die
such a good psychological doomed yaoi the author did her MF homework.. seeing a realistic depiction of psychopathy was so cool she truly did a gr8 job also call me a nerd but prisoner’s dilemma & the suspended bridge effect and other psychology theories getting brought up got me heart doki doking soooo keeeewlllll >.<
Love Sick Dog
waiting for the side stories! this manhwa was great, in the worst way possible. i couldn’t stop reading for hours and fucking LOVED it but i’d never want to put myself through the pain of reading this ever again – especially since each chapter following the 45th felt like a stab. and twist. loved the depth and nuances of each character’s motive and personality and how it didn’t waste the readers time – every moment mattered. the way their love journey was portrayed was beautiful. also i get why it had to happen but the hate-sex yegyum had with his rapist and abuser kind of ruined it for me like i really believe that could’ve been avoided while still driving the point home and without leaving such a sour taste in my mouth but oh well. doesn’t really take away that much from it.
