Aihara Miki always, always delivers dark, twisted relationships that retain that heartbreaking mundanity of abuse as everyday occurrence. Her characters are walking the fine line of criminals disguised as regular humans, overbearing and possessive, lying and manipulating and never, not once, being beacons of morality. The ML of this is a yandere horrible man who wants to drag down FL and crush her dreams of overseas independence and reduce her to a temple housewife who scrubs the floors. FL gradually seems to get brainwashed into liking him, even though we never see any signs of improvement from him, and it's such a frustrating yet compelling read. I wonder if this feeling carries over into the drama that was made from this. The story has a lot of comedic vibes but it cannot embrace it fully because the characters are all scumbags.
