I have lip and eyebrow piercing. Also have my ears pierced, and I had nose ring. Nothing hurt. But if you plan to do tongue or septum piercing that's gonna hurt very much.   1 reply

I got my lobes done with a gun when I was nine. And two more in the flesh above that when I was 19. And three with a needle ( belly button and two cartilage. I'm pretty sure cartilage is always done by a needle. I had horseshoes put in as a starter now I have studs with balls as a back they are more comfortable when you lie on your side. As people have said, it definitely depends on the place. Nostril piercing was a light pinch versus my nipple piercings were a pretty sharp pain. But honestly, I think it's worth it if you want one. Also, it's a specific type of pain (if there is any); it's more of a short, intense pinch or pain, compared to what I've heard about tattoos, which are ......   reply

I've my cartilage pierced and they did it why a needle, not a gun. They refused to do it with a gun because it could damage my cartilage and it wouldn't heal correctly. So I would say ask for your nose and cartilage piercings done with a needle. ^^   reply

I have lobes as well as both nipples. Just got my Daith piercings, both ears at the same time. None really hurt, she said my left daith was the easiest she had ever done. I guess that I have thin cartilage there. Pulling the needle out pinched the most. Then my right ear was thicker, and a little more intense. About 2 minutes later as I was puttin......   reply

Please do yourself a big favor and visit a reputable piercer to get your piercing done with a needle. The gun can cause tissue damage, is less sanitary and hurts more than a needle. Good luck! Edit. I got my cartilage done with a gun, but unfortunately, it didn't heal well despite taking good care of it :/   reply

It does hurt, but if you're just doing an ear lobe piercing it isn't bad. It's more like the pain of being pinched or getting a shot, and it doesn't last long. It varies depending on what you're getting pierced and your pain threshold.
