Some of these, like fried shrimp, ( which originated in Korea.) didn't start in the USA, we just brought other places food's here. There's a reason for it being named the "UNITED" states of America. I've literally only seen fried food like that at state fairs and they are meant as like gag foods. No one actually makes stuff like that to eat daily. Fried Shrimp is popular anywhere just like fried chicken is though so I'm not sure why that was shocking. And Fried pickles are common in the south, I've seen them at seafood restaurants here in Flor......   reply

Probably because it gives flavor and cruch lol.fried food isn't as common as what tv/social media makes it seem. From my experience as a Midwest girlie If people are frying things at home usually it's either fish or chicken or potatos (tots/fries/hashbrowns), or they get it at restaurants.
