Dear queers of Mangago, I would love to hear your most wistful, sentimental, unflinchingly gay "one that got away" stories! I'll start by sharing mine.

There was this girl at my university who was both effortlessly self-possessed and prepossessing. We moved in similar circles. I'd had my eyes on her for over a year before I made a move. (This is where you roll your eyes and go, "lesbians".) She reciprocated. That day I was elated. I'd never imagined my first time asking someone else out would go this smoothly.

Unfortunately, the timing was... off. She was graduating that very same year, and moving to another state - so I agreed to keep things casual. The summer we spent together was great, lots of beach excursions, and in the end we parted ways amicably. No contact, we decided. Cleanly. Maturely. But in truth it hurt.

A little while later she contacted me again. She was visiting and wanted to rekindle something casual. I knew if I dove back in I wouldn't be able to keep it casual, so I said no. So that's it. Now I've gotten enough distance from the whole thing to look back on it all without regret - maybe even with fondness.

I’ve been reading for 10 years now. I read a lot of garbage, but what really keeps me going is that no matter how awful a manga is, I remember that someone put in countless hours of hard work to show me their art and tell me their story.... Then I laugh at how stupid it turned out lol   1 reply

Hello. We are the Yaoi Critics Association, here to welcome you to the fold. There's a lot of mediocre or subpar material out there to slog through to get to the good - and that's true of many, many things. SciFi. Young Adult fiction. Poetry. You know how they say 99% of [insert your pick of medium/genre] is shit. It's true. All of it. So I compl......   reply

I don't like reading works that are incomplete for a certain reason. Every time I read one, I get way too intrigued and before I know it, I already finished and I have to wait for the next chapter. Then as I wait, I start to slowly forget about it and soon I move on to something else, completely forgetting what I read. Later on, I go "There was thi......   1 reply

ABSOLUTELY! I will never always try not to read anything without an ending. There are very few exceptions but as far as I'm concerned, if your story is about a specific set of experiences that lead up to something then I have no reason to read it if it has no climax. Obviously this doesn't apply to stories that are slice of life or comedy etc.   reply

There's no one who didn't pass with harrassement. I passed with harrassment a lot in transportation in the train or the bus and like any other person, the guy stuck from behind and every time I thought it was a bag but it was a guy who try to touch me but like any one else I tried to put my bag in between and look at him with sharp eyes like ( one ......   reply

So I don't know whether this counts as an experience, but well, I am kinda missing her right now, so I will share. It seems maybe, I had feelings for my professor who is 5 years older than me. She is damn short, but has a nice deep, though scratchy voice. I wasn't into her looks, and I didn't care for her at all in beginning. But she taught us so ......   1 reply

I either listen to punk rock if I am reading some dark stuff or kinky pop songs by queer singers if it's not too dark. Recently, I listen to mainly Dorian Electra though.   1 reply
