I think a lot of yoai fetishizes "turning the straight guy gay", rather than saying outright that a guy can like both women AND YOU (the gay protag). It stems from that stupid "pick a side" biphobia that is present in society. It's annoying because it seems to be the rule and not the exception. People are very misguided when it comes to sexuality, especially in oppressed societies like the Asian ones usually are. What I find the most annoying is when a straight character falls in love with another guy but continues to identify as straight. They'll say something along the lines of "I'm straight, I just happened to fall in love with this particular person who's a guy". It happens in one of my favorite manga, Haru wo Daite Ita.
