Many medieval saints were reputed to have healing powers, and they often cared for lepers and those afflicted with similarly gruesome diseases—by licking their wounds. St. Mary Magdalene of De’Pazzi licked the sores of the ill, and even sucked maggots out of wounds. St. Angela of Foligno drank water she had used to bathe a leper’s feet, and purposely swallowed one of his scabs.

The magical touch
[Question]

There was a belief in the Middle Ages that corpses retained a tiny spark of life and were therefore magical, which justified the practice of ‘cruentation’. For this, they would place an accused murderer in contact with the corpse of their alleged victim. If the corpse started spontaneously bleeding, that proved the murderer’s guilt. Cruentation was a legally valid practice and was used as late as the 17th century.
imagine if the corpse was murdered and the fingers are cut off, then the toes? and how tf did that corpse bleed?

Have a random rant against otome isekai?

90% of otome isekai are pretty shitty with self insert protagonist, circle jerks and read like those y/n fanfics. And no, just because the mc knows the future doesn't make them smart, they are just abusing their privilege of knowing the future. Also it's very irritating how commoners are basically treated as lesser beasts in these stories and always told to "know their place", how slavery gets hand waved with people saying that's just how it is (and people will argue that it's historical therefore the setting should have stuff like this or that but actual historical setting don't have magical op MC who know the future, fuck using that as an excuse to handwave slavery). Now using slavery in fiction is not wrong and the same for anything else really, I just want something this heavy to at least be treated with the respect it deserves and hope that the personification of good mc actual does abolishes it rather then just forget about it after her happily ever after with the ML. MC getting together with the ML after he did all sorts of shitty stuff is boring as fuck, that kind of ML is worse then any antagonist MC faces. MC always ending up with someone who is of higher status or at least nobility (let's be honest, very very rarely does a MC ever ends up with someone of lower status or a commoner) is another shitty trope and makes it look like status is more important then character or personality. How commonly contract marriages are used, do people have arrange marriage fetishes?
There is also the fact how most of those shitty story have such strong protagonist centred morality, half the shit the MC does would have gotten any other character (especially the antagonist) cursed to death in the fandom and comment section.
There are a lot of other stuff but I am sleepy and this is it for now.
