to start, I kinda have to insist that "pain" here is not necessarily referred to as solely physical. like abuse, which can both be physical and/or emotional.... words can be quite cutting too.
now then - in short, it's a mental thing. sure, some ppl also feel "physical" pain differently (tolerance towards physical pain etc), still it boils down to......
