Just don't date. You can fall for anyone as much as you want, but, personally, I prefer being alone due to self-defence. (The same thing has happened to me. (Being traumatised, I mean.)
On the other hand we are all going to perish and hopefully soon, so just do whatever feels right, whatever you want.
