The wonderful art of Painter of the Night

Hello people!
Alright so I was wondering something. In mangago, mangas/webtoons/manhwas are rated and often, those with the highest votes have the prettiest art (and usually they're colorful too) while those with a really old style or with a really "simple" art (like it's not bad but it's not great) are kinda low rated even though the story can be good. So I realized that the drawing actually influenced the votes and how people perceive the story because they'll be like, mesmerized by the art and characters. And for example, many people like potn because the art is pretty and the characters are hot. So here's my question =
Would you actually like this yaoi if the art wasn't pretty? Like, would you find this story genuinely enjoyable and interesting if the art was like... you know the really old style yaoi with bad proportions and all this shit?

I'm not looking for a fight, I'm genuinely curious. So please be nice and honest
