Every fall the Physics club holds an annual egg-drop contest. This year there were only 2 contestants. The first contestant used a method that yields the following equation: h(t) =−16t^2+64 where t is the time in seconds and h is the height of the egg after t seconds. The second contestant used a method that yields the following equation: h(t) =−16t^2−8t +64 where t is the time in seconds and h is the height of the egg after t seconds. If the egg hits the ground in 1.5 seconds or less, then it will break. Whose egg will not break? Explain.

the engineer has come to help (⌒▽⌒) equation #1: h(t)=−16t^2+64 plug in 1.5 for "t" because that's the time h(t)= -16(1.5)^2+64 h(t)= 28 28 (feet? meters? idk what you use) is the maximum height for this egg to fall from before it breaks. In other words in 1.5 seconds, the egg can fall from 28 whatever the units you use before it breaks e...... 2 reply
