What was your first impression of yaoi?

I WAS SCARRED. MY FRIEND MADE ME READ PAINTER OF THE NIGHT FIRST AND I WAS BUT AN INNOCENT BUG AND THAT WASN'T IT. But then my other friends recommended some cute stuff and then I progressed to yaoi~~   reply
