My theory is that straight sexuality is f*cking exhausting for women. Even consuming lesbian stories is exhausting because a lot of it is made with male sexuality in mind. I don't think yaoi at all accurately represents gay, male sexuality but more of an idealistic feminine sexual fantasy where straight power dynamics don't feel so inescapable.
