If you think about it the words ‘why not’ could be used as a sentence by itself and if someone says whyn’t then it’s like wtf kinda noise is that. It’s not a word like ‘doesn’t’ where that needs to have more of a sentence for it to make sense. Or at least that’s what I think idk if that even made sense
