not a fanfic but that pin remind me very much of a book, Carry On by Rainbow Rowell bcs they have a scene where our Chosen One hitchhiked to his enemy's house with mud and leaves all over him !! and it matchs ur description perfectly, super cute and fluffy. its my fav book ☆ sorry the pic is upside down
