I defend all tropes shamelessly - it's not the trope's fault, it's the authors.
There is nothing inherently wrong with a trope, the issue with tropes come from how the authors use that trope.
Yes, even toxic rape trope I can accept if it's written well, you don't NEED to write the story so that it romanticizes rape, you don't NEED to write it so ......
