why are gls not produced as much as bls?
I mostly read BLs but occasionally I read GLs too, and one thing I've noticed is that there isn't enough GLs produced in comparison to BLs, specifically content variety and quality wise.
There is such a wide variety of BLs when you think about it, if I had to name a few it'd be guideverse, horror, online gaming friends, mafia, traumatizing, older men, priest yaoi, transmigration, angels and demons etc etc the list goes on and I think there's something for everyone's interest but when it comes to GLs, i found that there are extremely less stories that fit in any of these categories.
Why is that so?
Some might say you need a lotta creativity to come up with the story and stuff, no, there's such a lack of GL content that even adapted BL plots can be seen as groundbreaking, just because they're exploring new territory.
There's such a big sea of opportunities but creators aren't taking advantage of it. I seriously can't understand why is that so. ┐(´ー｀)┌
Maybe it's because romance as a genre is moreso catered towards women, and most women are attracted to men, so they like to see men in love with other men, or like to imagine themselves in a relationship with a man (het stories)
That being said though I'm a lesbian that reads primarily bl so I'm not too sure lol

I'm speaking just from my own opinions and not of any others. To be completely frank I've never read a GL as for some reason they don't appeal to me, which I think is connected to how there is a lack of content I want to read. As you mentioned Bl's have a wider arrange of plots that I can chose from. But I also hardly read Hetero stuff as well. If ......
