Thoughts on class ranking transparency
imo I hate it. When I was still in school, I hated it when the teacher would finally announce the class rankings. I hated how grades or exam scores or even quiz scores were whole-class-available knowledge either by having been written on the white/chalkboard or by you having to announce it yourself to the teacher listing down student scores in front. I could tolerate and easily decline an annoying classmate asking to compare test scores, but if made to be a mandatory announcement by a teacher? I hated that shit.
U might say it's probably because i always got low grades and scores back then, but no cos I was at the top of class rankings and hated it even then. In some ways it may have been a badge of honor but to me it felt like a curse I could never escape from because any time I performed less, I was to be judged.
So ur thoughts? Privacy over transparency?
Omg I actually have a funny story to tell from when I was in first grade in a Chinese school (before I moved to the US) we had a huge math test and the results came out. I WAS LAST PLACE IN THE ENTIRE CLASS. And yk my score? 94%. Only 2 people got 97% and everyone else got 100%. The teacher was yelling at the 2 kids who hit 97%, and me? I was used ......
