In my opinion, I think the cover art should be representative of what the contents will be.
You don't want a readers first impression to be 'wow wtf this art isn't anywhere near as good'
That's a terrible first impression to leave your readers with. Esp when it feels like a HUGE departure from the cover art.
Those are just my thoughts.
