A friend (?)

I have this friend who lies in every possible way she can, even when there's no reason to lie. We've been friends for six years now, and it's honestly shocking that I haven't cut her off. I started distancing myself from her when we entered senior high school but didn't go full no contact or interaction with her.

Recently, a top university in our country released the CET passers. Since we're in the same friend group, we asked each other if we passed the exam. All of us got rejected, but she claimed she passed and turned down the offer. And her reason? She didn’t want to be criticized for studying at a state university as someone from a middle-class background. For context, people in our country have been criticizing well-off or privileged students who attend government-funded universities meant for the less fortunate. Maybe she wants us to think that she's thoughtful or something but we all know she’s lying to our faces again. I honestly don't know why she's still acting like this at her age, like literally. Maybe she's coping or just trying to look superior, but this isn't the first time she’s lied. She even stole a video from someone once and claimed it was hers. I thought she would outgrow this behavior as she got older. It's disappointing to see that she still does it even after being called out.
