You don’t have to finish a story to criticize it! If I don’t find the story engaging or interesting at all why the hell would I waste my time in reading it? I hate this stupid argument that you have to finish a story to criticize it when you don’t! If you have read enough to feel like you can form an opinion then you have every right to criticize a story.

It's fine to criticise. Obviously it is. But I've seen people who completely bash the readers and shit on the author because of a story they didn't even complete and that's not ok (in any circumstances not just because they didn't complete it)....also you can criticise the story but without reading it entirely u can't reach the conclusions that it will end badly. So why would u bash on readers who finished it and liked it? You don't even know if it was worth it unless u finish it...idc if I'm making complete sense here but I hope I got my point across.
Also this is not targeted to you I'm just pissed off at many people I've encountered who acted like I mention earlier.
I would also like to add that criticising a story and entirely bashing on it (as mentioned here without reading entirely) is completely different. Cuz without finishing it how would ik the story I talked so badly about is actually bad? For example the novel/manhua "social outcast" halfway reading it I was started to hate it sm, but still finished it. I absolutely hated it (more so cuz I wasted a very rare free time readinf that shi). Now this would be different if I criticise a story which is ongoing rn.

Me personally if I feel like the story romanticizes rape, is cliché, predictable or I don’t like the pacing I will know it’s not worth it I don’t need to see it to the end to really know it’s a good story or not. That’s just my opinion of course. I don’t agree with bashing readers unless if the story is romanticizing rape or pedophilia, then I really couldn’t give a crap if people shit on it or the author. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Yeah obviously. Those are a completely different matter. Those who read and write that sorta thing NEEDS to get hate. Romanticising rape and pedophilia deserves jail time.
this shouldnt be an unpopular opinion at all. people should be free to say what they want to, & the other person can refute those claims too if they think they're wrong. i hate how nowadays you can only say good things, and even valid criticism is never accepted

This is giving me trauma from my arguments with rainbow city antis (￣∇￣"). People can criticize a story regardless of how far they read, free speech I agree. But I feel a lot of times it leads to inaccurate critiques or complaints that could get explained or touched up on later in the story. Of course that is assuming the critique is about the story itself. But if it's things about one's one preference or what someone is interested in, you're allowed to say whatever you want (gotta expect some feedback from ppl especially fans) but everyone is allowed to have stuff they interested in.
For example, say you said,
"yea I read 3 chapters of rainbow city and it's just not my thing" Id absolutely understand and be like cool.
but being like "I read three chapters and the story, the characters and everything sucks" that's a completely different story. (no pun intended)
