in your opinion, which crime is worse?

is /SA worse than murder? this is very random but I've been seeing some people who gets super angry when it's about SA, like it's okay for them if this character murdered a bunch of ppl as long as he's not pist so that led me in to thinking of this. I don't wish to start an argument, I just wanna read what your opinions are

Rape is seen as a more emotional crime on the victim. Muder only hurts for the loved ones of the victim, and most of the times the stories only make their characters murder npcs, unless they are villains, so the reader has no emotional bonds to the crime in the same way rape does. It seems like people were saying this about a fictional character and killing in fiction is different from a real murder. Murder in fiction is often a plot device/allegory. Think when the villain dies at the end of the story or when the protagonist's parents get killed right infront of them: our brains register that as a symbol rather than a crim...... reply

I don't think you can ever definitively say which is worse, cuz it's completely a subjective moral debate. SA is often seen as worse cuz the victim stays alive (and I have my own theory that SA is also seen as unspeakably bad because sex in general is a fairly taboo subject in society, so a crime related to it becomes even more inappropriate to tal...... 1 reply

i think it’s because many people have a real fear of SA and no fear of being killed, they just project their own fears onto the story. people can excuse murder because they don’t see themselves in the victim. like 80% of /SA is done by someone the victim knows—usually either an ex intimate partner or a “friend”—so this anxiety probably ...... reply
