BL throughout the years

The other day I read a comment and it made me realize something that got me curious.

I started my manga/manhwa journey back in 2004 (yeah I’m old), so I’ve read a lot of stuff over the years.

People are constantly asking for recommendations for BLs and I can never remember any titles to recommend that I’ve read in the past. All the recs are of more recent things, like 2020-present.

So I got to thinking, will I even remember some of the ones I’m reading now, in 20 years?

There are some stories I remember from back then, but overall I can’t remember if I had a favorite BL back then, and if I did, which was it?

Do you guys remember any of the older stories you used to like (it doesn’t have to be 20 years ago, I know a lot of people on here weren’t even born 20 years ago) or do you think you’ll remember your favorite in 20 years?

I still remember the same hiei x kurama doujin which was my gateway to bl like 7 years ago, so I’m guessing in a few years I’ll still remember some of my faves. I remember them overall but it's true I recommend them less and less and just start giving newest stories with similar plots I also think there's stories you can't recommend as time changes bc they used to be unique but now their plot has been overused in ways that make the OGs look boring or too cliché Take shoujos for example, the OG 2000-2010 ...... reply

I didn't read any BL from 2021 until this year when I randomly remembered it exists. I have a list of favourites I read from 2015 through 2021 but if you held a gun to my head and asked me what any of them were about, I couldn't tell you. I'm not sure if it's because I used to turn my brain off when reading. Out of the 500+ I've read I have a vague...... reply

That's normal. I mean, in the grand scheme of things: Remembering a comic title after such a long time, when you have a life to live, is not really relevant for your memory to hold onto. I have a specific list made for special yaois that I wouldn't mind rereading either a day later or 5 years later. I may not remember their names when I turn older, or if this site crumbles and my lists goes, but i do remeber the joy they bring me. I like to remeber yaoi author names instead because it's wayy easier to say those over having to remeb...... reply
